About us

Started in mid-2009, Nano Connect Scandinavia is a project focused on cooperation across national borders. Eight universities and institutes in Denmark and Sweden have joined forces to strengthen the region’s position as one of the major nano hubs in Europe and to increase the transfer of knowledge between academia and industry.

The project coordinators of Nano Connect Scandinavia identify areas for cooperation between scientists and businesses in the region as a whole and support the commercialization process. Based at the participating universities, the project coordinators have strong backgrounds in nanoscience combined with experience from start-ups and industry.

The funding comes from the participating universities, five regional public bodies, and the EU fund for regional development – Interreg IV A. In total, Nano Connect Scandinavia has a budget of 4.5 million euro. Current project members include the Technical University of Denmark, the University of Copenhagen, Lund University, Halmstad University, Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg, the Imego Institute, and Øresund University.

Nano Connect Scandinavia is centered on the regions in Denmark, Sweden and Norway that are tied together by the strait of Øresund, Kattegat and Skagerrak.
