Networking on nano energy

Nano Connect Scandinavia arranged a networking event focused on nano energy. Participants from universities and industry gathered in Lund to learn more about a major call from the Top-level Research Initiative.

The event, held at Biskopshuset in Lund, January 13, was kicked off with a talk by Natalia Grebennik from the Nordic Innovation Centre, who presented the call "Energy Efficiency with Nanotechnology". A total of NOK 50 million is available for researchers and companies interested in doing work around one of three themes:

  • Nano-based surface treatment concepts for energy efficient transport and energy conversion.
  • Nanomaterials for efficient energy conversion and storage devices.
  • Nanostructured materials for efficient light emission/light harvesting.

- We hope this call will have a strong impact on finding new ways to use nanotechnology

for energy efficiency, said Natalia Grebennik.

Projects need participants from at least three Nordic countries, and at least one of the partners has to be a company. The Nordic Innovation Centre is looking for ideas with relevance for the business sector in the Nordic countries and with commercial potential. Projects will be funded up to a maximum of 50 percent.

The deadline for pre-proposals is February 26, and the deadline for full proposals is May 14. Evaluation of applications will be done in June.

Nano Connect Scandinavia's networking event attracted some 25 participants from universities, institutes and companies in Denmark and Sweden. They expressed an interest to follow up the meeting with similar events centered on different topics, such as solar cells and energy storage.

Please contact us if you are interested in this call and/or are looking for a research or industry partner.
