Stage one of MAX IV fully financed
Region Skåne, Lund University, the Swedish Research Council and Vinnova have come to an agreement about funding the first stage of MAX IV.
The MAX IV synchrotron radiation facility will be placed in Lund, along with the European Spallation Source, ESS, since synchrotron light research and neutron scattering are complimentary analysis methods in materials science.
The pricetag for building the first stage of MAX IV has been estimated to 1055 MSEK. By April last year, 750 MSEK was guaranteed by the partners envolved. In a new agreement, the remaining funding has been secured.
Lund University and Region Skåne promises 270 MSEK. The Swedish Research Council and Vinnova invest 785 MSEK, writes Rapidus news agency.
Construction of MAX IV will begin this summer. The second stage of the project will include additional beam lines and instruments. The cost of stage two is estimated to 500 MSEK. MAX IV is planned to be operational in 2015.
